Description The sterling silver chain earrings are created with Lake Superior agates, datolite and greenstones. “Lakers” are the oldest agate on the planet. Laker agates differ from other agates found around the world in its rich red, orange, and yellow coloring. Datolite is a borosilicate mineral. It usually comes in the form of crystals, and the only place in the world where datolite forms in porcelain, cauliflower-like solid nodules is the copper ore regions of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The most common datolite color is white, but it can occur in a range of pastel colors influenced by metals. Greenstone occurs only on Isle Royale and in some basalt formations on the Keweenaw Peninsula. Greenstones are the state gem of Michigan.
